French Speaking Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) / Speech-Languague Pathologist Assistant (SLPA)

Reports To: Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
The Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) provides direct therapeutic intervention and technical support to clients with communication, hearing, and cognitive-communication disorders. Working under the supervision of an SLP, the CDA implements treatment plans, tracks progress, and prepares clinical materials to optimize patient outcomes.
Core Responsibilities
- Treatment Implementation: Carry out speech and language remediation programs (e.g., for aphasia, articulation, fluency, or cognitive-communication) as prescribed by the supervising SLP.
- Data Collection & Documentation: Maintain accurate clinical records, documenting patient responses and progress toward goals to assist the SLP in clinical decision-making.
- Technical Support: Program and maintain Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices (e.g., Proloquo2Go, iPads with communication software).
- Material Development: Design and create personalized therapeutic materials, visual schedules, and home programming kits for patients and families.
- Family Training: Educate caregivers on specific therapeutic techniques and the use of communication aids to ensure continuity of care outside the clinical setting.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Post-graduate Graduate Certificate in Communicative Disorders Assistant from an accredited Ontario college
- Registration: Current membership with the Communicative Disorders Assistant Association of Canada (CDAAC) is strongly preferred.
- Bilingual French and English strongly preferred
Compensation
$25.00 - $35.00 per hour
